CONE OF SHAME

The shame isn't his. It's ours.

Cone of Shame is about our willingness to invite robots into everyday life while rarely considering where that relationship might eventually lead.

Today they're assistants, companions and curiosities. Tomorrow machines like them may carry weapons, fight wars, patrol streets and enforce laws. The robot wears the cone, but the title points back at us — a symbol of the responsibility that comes with deciding how much authority we're willing to hand over to machines.

The playful image deliberately clashes with the darker idea underneath it: something strange and consequential can become ordinary surprisingly quickly.

Medium: Acrylic paint, paint marker and spray paint on skateboard deck
